    Lighting Size & Installation Guide

How to Choose the Perfect Light Fixture Size for Any Room

Selecting the right size light fixture is essential to achieving both functional lighting and balanced aesthetics. A fixture that’s too small can feel underwhelming, while one that’s too large can overwhelm the space. Use the following guidelines and tips to find the perfect light fixture size for your room.

General Guidelines for Sizing Light Fixtures

    1. Calculate the Diameter

Use this simple formula to determine the ideal diameter for your light fixture:

    • Measure the room's length and width (in feet).
    • Add the two measurements together.
    • Convert the total to inches to determine the fixture’s recommended diameter.

Example: 18 feet (Room Length) + 12 feet (Room Width) = 30 feet; The chandelier should be about 30 inches for its diameter

    2. How to determine the chandelier’s height

To find the ideal height for a fixture:

Measure the space’s floor to ceiling distance in feet, multiple by 2.5 will be the approximate height for the chandelier in inches. This rule mainly apply to pendant style chandelier while not necessarily apply to ceiling style chandelier.

Example: For example 10 feet (Room Height), 10*2.5 = 25 The chandelier should be about 25 inches for its height

      3. How to determine the appropriate height for hanging a chandelier

If you are hanging the chandelier on an open floor, chandelier’s bottom should at least be 7.5 feet away from the floor.

If you are hanging the chandelier above a dining table or kitchen island, chandelier’s bottom should be 30 to 36 inches away from the tabletop.

Other rules and tips apply to different types of spaces.

Besides those general rules that apply to most spaces, there are other rules and tips for different areas, like what size chandelier should be used for the dining room and what about foyers?

      Dining Room & Kitchen island

If you are hanging the chandelier above your dining table or kitchen island, you can also decide the size of the chandeliers based on the size of your dining table or kitchen island. We generally recommend that the length or diameter of the chandelier should be between 1/2 and 3/4 of the length of the dining table or kitchen island.

For example, let's say that you have a dining table with 60 inches in length. The chandelier should be between 30 (60 x 1/2) to 45 (60 x 3/4) inches in diameter or length (Same here 1/2 to 3/4 of the kitchen island length)

      Two-Story Foyer with Staircase

Besides the general rule that the chandelier’s bottom should be at least 7 and a half feet away from the floor. For two stories, what you also need to consider is how will it look from the second floor. In general, staircase chandeliers will be a good choice for space. In term of placing, below are two commonly seen guidance:

      • The general guideline is to use the second floor as a reference point. Hanging the chandelier slightly lower than or at the top of the staircase. This way, when you are at the top of the staircase, the top of the chandelier will be at your eye-level.
      • On the other hand, many designers advocate for independent placement just to make the chandelier the focal point or placing the chandelier about another architectural features. For example. if there is a large transparent window above the door, it should be centered in the window for best visual result from outside.

      Long Hallways

Chandelier size for hall ways should be determined by the width of the hallway. Multiple the hallway’s width in feet by 2.5 will be the diameter of the chandelier in inches.

For example, the hallway’s width is 8 feet. The chandelier’s diameter should be about 20 (8 x 2.5) inches

If you want to decorate with chandelier for your long hallways. We always recommend having them

      • Centered in the middle of the hallway
      • Spaced between 8 and 10 feet apart
      • At least 7 and half feet clearance from floor to bottom of chandelier.
Popular Science on Lighting Color Temperature

General Product Features for Lighting Fixtures

Important Note: The features described below apply generally to our lighting fixtures. They do not guarantee that the specific product you are viewing includes these features. Please refer to the Description section of the product page to verify its functionalities.

      1. Dimmable Version:

        • Equipped with a remote control, allowing you to adjust both brightness and color temperature.
        • Not compatible with wall-mounted dimmer switches.
      2. Three-Color Switch-Controlled Version:

        • Operates using your existing wall switch, enabling selection among three preset color temperatures.
        • Does not have a memory function; upon turning off and on again, the light resets to its default setting.
        • Cannot be set to maintain a single light source permanently.

Understanding Color Temperature (Measured in Kelvin)

Color temperature defines the visual tone of light, influencing the ambiance and functionality of your space. Here's a guide to help you choose:

      • Warm White (2700-3300K):
Provides a soft, inviting glow, ideal for creating cozy and relaxing atmospheres in living rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas.

      • Neutral Light (3300-5300K):
Offers bright, balanced illumination similar to natural daylight. Perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, offices, and retail spaces where clarity and focus are key.

      • Cool White (5300-6500K):
Produces a crisp, energizing light, enhancing focus and productivity. Best suited for task-oriented spaces such as workshops, garages, and display areas.

Tip: Select the color temperature based on the activities and mood you want to establish in your space to ensure both functional and aesthetic harmony.

      The glow

Stone-still by day, molten after dark

Unlit, the slabs read as solid blocks of wine-coloured glass on matt gold. Switched on, the thin centres go bright amber while the rolled edges and the overlaps stay deep red — one object showing two colours at once.

      Lights off

Solid claret glass, opaque and jewel-like.

      Lights on

Amber through the thin centres, red along every seam.

No bulb is included. The socket takes an E14 up to 15W, and the one you choose changes the lamp completely.

Our pick — true amber with the red kept in the seams

      The design

Four blocks, no two the same

Two materials, worked two different ways: glass blown at the furnace and left exactly as it set, metal brushed by hand until the grain shows. Neither is finished to look machine-made, and neither is meant to.

      Hand-blown amber glass slab

The shade — blown, not moulded

Each slab is gathered at the furnace, blown, then opened out and flattened while it is still soft. Nothing is pressed into a mould, so the ripples, the trapped bubbles and the depth of amber come out different on all four.

      Hand-brushed metal base

The base — brushed by hand

A high-speed wire brush is drawn across the metal until every fine line shows. The surface catches light along the grain and stays matt across it, so it reads as warm and soft rather than plated — and fingerprints do not sit on it the way they would on a mirror polish.

      Two slabs each way, crossing

The build — crossed, not framed

Two slabs run one way and two run the other, crossing to enclose the bulb with no frame around them. At each crossing light travels through amber twice, so those four seams are the darkest red on the lamp.

      The form

Two by two, crossed in a grid

Four identical slabs: two standing on one axis, two on the other, crossing like a tic-tac-toe grid. Every slab runs past the one it crosses and stops, which leaves eight ends standing proud and a square of light in the middle. The arrangement holds the shape — there is no frame doing it.

Two slabs each way, seen from above
Crossing light passes through twice Eight ends run past and stop One bulb in the centre square Plan view — two slabs each way, crossing in a grid

      Two by two

Four identical slabs, two on each axis. The lamp reads the same from the front and from the side, and no piece is a left- or right-hand version of another.

      Eight ends standing proud

Every slab overshoots the one it crosses rather than stopping flush. Those eight ends are the spikes in the silhouette, and they are why the outline keeps changing as you move around it.

      A square of light

The four crossings enclose a square cell with the bulb at its centre, so every face is lit from the same point at the same distance — no bright side, no dim side.

      Color & material

      Amber Red glass, brushed metal.

Colour is melted into the glass rather than sprayed onto it, which is why a chipped edge would be amber all the way through — and why the depth of red varies from slab to slab.

      THE MATERIAL STORY 01 / 04

      Why the pairing works

A deep, wine-toned glass against a warm matt metal. Nothing in the palette is cool, so the lamp stays warm whether it is switched on or sitting in daylight.

      01
      Amber Red glass

Graded rather than uniform: the colour runs from pale amber in the thin centres to near-claret at the rolled edges.

      02
      Depth from layering

The richest colour on the lamp is not in any single slab — it is where two of them overlap.

      03
      Brushed by hand

A high-speed wire brush draws fine parallel lines across the metal, so the base catches light along one axis and stays matt across the other. Fingerprints and dust do not show the way they would on a mirror polish.

      04
      Hardware left visible

A turned metal stud sits on the front face rather than being hidden behind the glass. The fixing is part of the look.

      Where it shines

Nineteen centimetres, and it owns the table

Small enough for the surfaces a full-size lamp crowds out, and bright enough to be the only light you leave on.

      The art of glass

      Blown hot. Stacked by hand.

Every slab is blown at the furnace and opened out by hand. Glass worked this way carries the marks of how it was made, and on this lamp those marks are the point — not a tolerance to be ground away.

      01 · Melt

      01 · Melt

Amber Red is graded into the batch, so the colour is in the glass rather than on it.

      02 · Blow

      02 · Blow

A gather is blown on the pipe, then opened out and flattened into a slab.

      03 · Cool

      03 · Cool

Slow annealing sets the ripples and leaves the rim thick and wavy. No two slabs cool the same way.

      04 · Build

      04 · Build

Four slabs are turned against each other and set on the brushed metal base.

Signs of the hand, not flaws

      Blow ripples

Fine waves across the face of each slab.

      Bubbles in the body

      Trapped as the glass cooled.

      Slab-to-slab variation

The depth of red differs between the four.

      FAQ

      Questions, answered

      Size & build
      What are the overall dimensions?

      Dia 19 cm × H 23 cm (Ø 7.5″ × H 9.1″), measured across the widest point of the glass.

How much surface does it need?

Roughly a 20 cm square. Leave a few centimetres clear behind it so the back slabs can throw colour onto the wall.

      What is it made of?

Four pieces of hand-blown Amber Red glass on a square brushed metal base in a gold finish.

Why four separate pieces instead of one shade?

Because the crossings are the design. A single moulded shade would give one even colour; two slabs each way, crossing, give a deeper red at every crossing and a different outline from every angle.

Will my lamp look exactly like the photos?

Very close, but each slab is blown and cooled individually, so the ripples, the bubbles and the exact depth of red vary from piece to piece. That variation is the material, not a defect.

      Is the glass fragile?

The slabs are thick, heavy glass with rounded edges, not thin glassware. Handle it by the metal base rather than by the glass when you move it.

      Bulb, power & care
      Which bulb should I buy?

An E14 bulb up to 15W, at 2700–3000K warm white. A clear filament bulb gives sharp highlights through the ripples; a frosted bulb spreads the colour evenly. 4000K and cooler turns the amber brown.

      Why is no bulb included?

Bulb preference is personal and glass bulbs rarely survive international shipping. Buying locally gets you the right fitting, the right brightness and no broken glass in the box.

      How bright is it?

Deep amber glass absorbs a good share of the output and the socket is capped at 15W, so treat this as a mood light rather than a reading lamp.

      Is it dimmable?

Not as supplied — the cord carries a simple on/off switch. Fit a dimmable E14 bulb and use a plug-in or in-line dimmer, and you control the level.

How long is the cord, and where is the switch?

150 cm / 59″, with an in-line on/off switch on the cord so it sits within reach of the table edge.

      How should I clean it?

Unplug the lamp and let the bulb cool, then wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners, which dull both the glass and the brushed metal.
