Small but effective-use the correct bulb!

This is a simple little desk lamp. It's solidly built and does the job unless you are looking for something taller-make sure you check the dimensions before ordering. Some people complain that the light bulb sticks out of the shade, but that's only if you use a full-size bulb. Remember that bulbs come in several different sizes, and use a smaller one!

Great for using at night

I got this for my craft table. When I sew or craft at night I don't like the ceiling fan light on because first of all, it's too soft of a light. Plus, I just prefer a lamp-type light to be on when it's dark out. I feel like my eyes don't get as fatigued when I use lamps. This lamp is bright enough to read by and you can swivel it to point in the direction you need. This would be great for a student who needs to study at night and doesn't want all the overhead lights on.

It is what I wanted, but watch the color!

This is the exact lamp I wanted for our daughters' desks. I ordered the sandy black hoping it would be a bit more metallic, and it really is a gunmetal gray tone. Returning the gray for the true black!

Perfect for my small desk

I"m happily surprised that this lamp is actually a bit big than the images suggest. Since my desk isn't large, the size is perfect. So is the weight -- a good, sturdy lamp with a solid, heavy base for such a manageable-sized lamp. And -- very important to me --I can bend the neck way down so the light goes right where I need it and not into my eyes. For editing, that's exactly what I need. I use only a 25-watt incandescent bulb, which is plenty of light in the right lamp, and this is the right lamp.
