    Lighting Size & Installation Guide

How to Choose the Perfect Light Fixture Size for Any Room

Selecting the right size light fixture is essential to achieving both functional lighting and balanced aesthetics. A fixture that’s too small can feel underwhelming, while one that’s too large can overwhelm the space. Use the following guidelines and tips to find the perfect light fixture size for your room.

General Guidelines for Sizing Light Fixtures

    1. Calculate the Diameter

Use this simple formula to determine the ideal diameter for your light fixture:

    • Measure the room's length and width (in feet).
    • Add the two measurements together.
    • Convert the total to inches to determine the fixture’s recommended diameter.

Example: 18 feet (Room Length) + 12 feet (Room Width) = 30 feet; The chandelier should be about 30 inches for its diameter

    2. How to determine the chandelier’s height

To find the ideal height for a fixture:

Measure the space’s floor to ceiling distance in feet, multiple by 2.5 will be the approximate height for the chandelier in inches. This rule mainly apply to pendant style chandelier while not necessarily apply to ceiling style chandelier.

Example: For example 10 feet (Room Height), 10*2.5 = 25 The chandelier should be about 25 inches for its height

      3. How to determine the appropriate height for hanging a chandelier

If you are hanging the chandelier on an open floor, chandelier’s bottom should at least be 7.5 feet away from the floor.

If you are hanging the chandelier above a dining table or kitchen island, chandelier’s bottom should be 30 to 36 inches away from the tabletop.

Other rules and tips apply to different types of spaces.

Besides those general rules that apply to most spaces, there are other rules and tips for different areas, like what size chandelier should be used for the dining room and what about foyers?

      Dining Room & Kitchen island

If you are hanging the chandelier above your dining table or kitchen island, you can also decide the size of the chandeliers based on the size of your dining table or kitchen island. We generally recommend that the length or diameter of the chandelier should be between 1/2 and 3/4 of the length of the dining table or kitchen island.

For example, let's say that you have a dining table with 60 inches in length. The chandelier should be between 30 (60 x 1/2) to 45 (60 x 3/4) inches in diameter or length (Same here 1/2 to 3/4 of the kitchen island length)

      Two-Story Foyer with Staircase

Besides the general rule that the chandelier’s bottom should be at least 7 and a half feet away from the floor. For two stories, what you also need to consider is how will it look from the second floor. In general, staircase chandeliers will be a good choice for space. In term of placing, below are two commonly seen guidance:

      • The general guideline is to use the second floor as a reference point. Hanging the chandelier slightly lower than or at the top of the staircase. This way, when you are at the top of the staircase, the top of the chandelier will be at your eye-level.
      • On the other hand, many designers advocate for independent placement just to make the chandelier the focal point or placing the chandelier about another architectural features. For example. if there is a large transparent window above the door, it should be centered in the window for best visual result from outside.

      Long Hallways

Chandelier size for hall ways should be determined by the width of the hallway. Multiple the hallway’s width in feet by 2.5 will be the diameter of the chandelier in inches.

For example, the hallway’s width is 8 feet. The chandelier’s diameter should be about 20 (8 x 2.5) inches

If you want to decorate with chandelier for your long hallways. We always recommend having them

      • Centered in the middle of the hallway
      • Spaced between 8 and 10 feet apart
      • At least 7 and half feet clearance from floor to bottom of chandelier.
Popular Science on Lighting Color Temperature

General Product Features for Lighting Fixtures

Important Note: The features described below apply generally to our lighting fixtures. They do not guarantee that the specific product you are viewing includes these features. Please refer to the Description section of the product page to verify its functionalities.

      1. Dimmable Version:

        • Equipped with a remote control, allowing you to adjust both brightness and color temperature.
        • Not compatible with wall-mounted dimmer switches.
      2. Three-Color Switch-Controlled Version:

        • Operates using your existing wall switch, enabling selection among three preset color temperatures.
        • Does not have a memory function; upon turning off and on again, the light resets to its default setting.
        • Cannot be set to maintain a single light source permanently.

Understanding Color Temperature (Measured in Kelvin)

Color temperature defines the visual tone of light, influencing the ambiance and functionality of your space. Here's a guide to help you choose:

      • Warm White (2700-3300K):
Provides a soft, inviting glow, ideal for creating cozy and relaxing atmospheres in living rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas.

      • Neutral Light (3300-5300K):
Offers bright, balanced illumination similar to natural daylight. Perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, offices, and retail spaces where clarity and focus are key.

      • Cool White (5300-6500K):
Produces a crisp, energizing light, enhancing focus and productivity. Best suited for task-oriented spaces such as workshops, garages, and display areas.

Tip: Select the color temperature based on the activities and mood you want to establish in your space to ensure both functional and aesthetic harmony.

      The glow

Ice by day, a lit column after dark

Unlit, the panels are white and clear — frozen water caught mid-crack, with the chrome plate doubling the floor back at you. Switched on, the crackle takes all eight bulbs at once: each reads as a soft warm core behind the texture, and the glass carries the rest out across the full face. Closer to a lantern than a lampshade.

      Lights off

White and clear, like a block of cut ice standing on polished chrome.

      Lights on

Eight warm cores up the centre, with the white threads reading as fine bright lines across the glass.

No bulbs are included, and this lamp takes eight of them. Buy all eight the same — mixing brands or colour temperatures shows up immediately through clear glass.

      2700K
Candlelit — the warmest reading, best in a bedroom
      3000K
Our pick — warm gold with the white threads still white
      4000K+
Not advised — cool white makes the glass look grey and clinical
      The scale

Fifty-two inches, and a sheet of paper on the floor

At 132 cm it stands well above a sofa back and just above most headboards — tall enough to light a seated room from above eye level with nothing in your sightline. The footprint is 30 × 21 cm, which is almost exactly a sheet of A4 paper laid on the floor.

Sofa back 85 cm This lamp 132 cm / 52″ Interior door 200 cm
IMAGE 05 — Scale · In The Room

      A4 on the floor

30 × 21 cm. It slots into the gap between a sofa arm and a wall, where a tripod or a drum-shade lamp will not go.

      Above the sightline

The lit column runs almost the full 132 cm, so it lights a seated room from above eye level without a shade edge to look at.

      No assembly, no wiring

Lift it by the chrome base, stand it on a level floor, fit eight bulbs and plug it in. No electrician, no fixings, nothing drilled.

      The design

Three materials, one of them frozen

Textured glass, white glass thread and mirror chrome — a 1970s Italian combination, and still the only one where a lamp can look like ice and like jewellery at the same time.

      IMAGE 06 — The Glass

The glass — textured, not frosted

Frosting is a surface treatment that leaves glass flat and matt. This is texture worked into the glass while it is hot, so the face has real depth and relief. It catches daylight from across the room with the lamp switched off, and the outer edges are left raw and wavy rather than cut straight.

      IMAGE 07 — The Threads

The threads — white, drawn through clear

Fine white glass is laid into the clear and drawn out, so the threads stretch, wander and never run quite straight. Lit, they read as bright lines inside the panel rather than marks on it. No two panels carry the same pattern.

      IMAGE 08 — The Corners

The corners — rails and studs, on show

Four slim chrome rails hold the glass at the corners, bolted through with chrome studs that are left visible all the way up. There is no collar at the top and no band at the waist, so each face runs unbroken from the base plate to the open top.

      Colour & material

      White glass, mirror chrome.

Nothing here is painted, printed or coated. The white is glass, the texture is glass, and the shine is polished metal — which is why the lamp looks the same in ten years as it does out of the box.

Cool white glass against warm reflective metal. The glass stays neutral, so it takes the colour of whatever bulbs you fit; the chrome stays bright, so a 132 cm object never reads as a solid block in the corner.

      01
      Ice-textured surface

Worked while the glass is hot, so the pattern runs into the body of the panel instead of sitting on the face. It is what turns eight bulbs into one lit object.

      02
      White threads in clear glass

Drawn through the panel rather than applied to it. Each one is pulled by hand, so the thread spacing and the way the lines bend differ on every lamp.

      03
      Chrome at the corners only

Slim mirror-finish rails with their studs left visible. Keeping the metal to the corners is what lets the glass read as a continuous lit surface on all four sides.

      04
      A base that disappears

The base is a thin mirror-polished plate, not a block. It reflects the floor it stands on, so the column looks as though it is resting on light rather than on hardware.

      Where it stands

A corner lamp that earns the corner

Tall enough to light a room on its own, narrow enough to stand where nothing else fits, and good enough to look at with the switch off.

      The art of glass

      Shocked cold. Drawn by hand.

Ice glass is made by surprising hot glass with cold, and no two surprises come out the same. Everything that makes one panel different from the next happens in the few seconds covered by step two.

      02 · Texture

The hot glass meets cold, and the surface crazes into the fine fracture pattern the technique is named for.

      04 · Assemble

Each panel is glazed into the chrome corner rails and bolted through by hand. The top is left open and the glass edge is not ground.

Signs of the hand, not flaws

      Texture varies

The crackle runs coarser in some areas than others.

      Edges are not straight

Raw, wavy edges are left as the glass set.

      Small bubbles

Trapped in the glass as it cooled.

      FAQ

      Questions, answered

      Size & build
      What are the overall dimensions?

      W 30 × D 21 × H 132 cm (W 11.8″ × D 8.3″ × H 52″). The footprint is almost exactly a sheet of A4 paper laid on the floor.

How much floor does it actually need?

A 30 × 21 cm patch and nothing more — it is lit on all four sides, so it does not need a wall behind it. It fits in gaps a tripod or drum-shade floor lamp cannot.

      Does it come assembled?

Yes. Lift it by the chrome base, stand it on a level floor, fit the bulbs and plug it in. There is nothing to screw together and nothing to wire.

Why a glazed column instead of a shade?

Because a shade hides the light and this does not. The glass is the wall of the lamp, the chrome rails are the frame, and the fixings are left on show — the same logic as a lantern. It means the lamp is worth looking at switched off, which a fabric shade never is.

Can you see the bulbs through the glass?

Yes, as eight soft warm cores behind the texture rather than eight bright points. The crackle breaks up the source before it reaches the surface, so you read them as lights inside an object rather than as glare.

Will my lamp look exactly like the photos?

Very close, but each panel is textured and threaded by hand, so the crackle pattern, the path of the white threads, the wave of the raw edges and the odd trapped bubble differ from lamp to lamp. That variation is the material, not a defect.

Is it stable on a rug?

The lamp stands on a flat mirror-polished plate. On a deep-pile rug, set it where the whole plate can sit flat rather than across an edge or a fold.

      Bulbs, power & care
How many bulbs does it take?

Eight, running up the inside of the column. They are not included. Buy all eight the same brand and the same colour temperature — through clear textured glass, a mismatch is obvious.

      Which bulbs should I buy?

Warm white LEDs at 2700–3000K. Clear or lightly frosted both work: clear gives sharper highlights through the crackle, frosted keeps the cores softer. 4000K and cooler turns the white glass grey and the lamp looks clinical.

      Why are no bulbs included?

Bulb preference is personal, fittings differ by country, and eight glass bulbs rarely survive a long international shipment intact. Buying locally gets you the right fitting, the right brightness and no broken glass in the box.

      How bright is it?

Eight bulbs spread over 132 cm of textured glass gives a generous, even light — enough to carry a room on its own in the evening, though the texture spreads light rather than focusing it, so pair it with a task light if you read in that chair.

      Is it dimmable?

That depends on the bulbs and dimmer you choose. Fit dimmable LEDs and use a plug-in or in-line dimmer and you control the level; the switch supplied on the cord is a simple on/off.

Where is the switch, and how long is the cord?

A foot switch sits on the 150 cm / 59″ cord, roughly a metre from the base, so you turn the lamp on and off without bending down or reaching into the glass. A longer cord can be fitted on request — ask before you order.

      How should I clean it?

Switch the lamp off and let the bulbs cool, then dust the glass with a dry microfiber cloth. For a deeper clean use a barely damp cloth with a mild glass cleaner. Always lift the lamp by the chrome base, never by the glass.
